Ascension to Pentecost: A Time of Prayer and Hope

From Ascension Day (this Thursday) to Pentecost (in 10 days’ time), Christians around the world will be joining in the Thy Kingdom Come initiative—a global wave of prayer for people to come to know Jesus.

This year, we’re focusing on the Lord’s Prayer, exploring its depth and power as we intercede for those we love to encounter Christ. Whether you’re new to prayer or have been praying for years, this is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your faith and pray intentionally for others.

How Can You Get Involved?

  1. Pick Up a Prayer Guide – From this Wednesday, booklets will be available in church with daily reflections on the Lord’s Prayer and space to pray for five people you’d like to come to faith. Don’t worry if you fall behind—just pick one up on Sunday and catch up! Each day’s reading is short and easy to follow.
  2. Pray for Five People – Who in your life needs Jesus? Over these 10 days, we encourage you to pray for five individuals—friends, family, colleagues—that they may encounter God’s love.
  3. Engage Online – We’ll be sharing additional resources, prayer prompts, and encouragement on our social media and website. Follow along and join the conversation!
  4. Need a Booklet Delivered? – If you’re housebound or unable to collect one, let us know, and we’ll do our best to get a copy to you.

Why Pray Together?

Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done” (Matthew 6:10). When we pray this with faith and expectancy, we align our hearts with God’s desire for all people to be saved. There’s something powerful about the Church uniting in prayer let’s believe for breakthroughs in the lives of those we love!

As I approach my final weeks in our Ministry Area my heart is filled with gratitude for all the encouragement and support  that I have received during my curacy and before that on my journey to ordination. I am very thankful for the wonderful friendships,new and old,from across the Ministry Area. And for the valuable experiences and opportunities to explore mission and ministry in a variety of ways. 

I can’t celebrate leaving you all but can celebrate your love and generosity, as well as your constant support and patience! So I would  appreciate your company on Palm Sunday at St Sannan’s Church please call by for some tea or coffee and a slice or two if of cake! It will be lovely to have the opportunity to catch up before I make my way to the St Illtyd’s Ministry Area.

This is a special opportunity for all our churches to come together in prayer, worship, and scripture, uniting as one body in Christ. It will be a time of fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual renewal as we gather to seek God’s presence together.

Refreshments will be provided after the service, so please stay, chat, and enjoy the time with friends old and new.

📌 Important Note: This will be the only service in the ministry area on this day, so we encourage everyone to make their way to St David’s to worship as one.

Gathering as a Ministry Area – Join Us in 2025!

As we step into 2025, we are excited to come together as a Ministry Area to worship, connect, and grow in faith. Ministry Area Services are a wonderful opportunity for all of us, from across our churches, to gather as one body in Christ. These services help us to strengthen our sense of community, deepen our understanding of scripture, and support one another in our faith journey.

This year, we have planned four special services at different churches in our Ministry Area. Each service will focus on a theme that helps us reflect on our faith and mission. On these dates, this will be the only service taking place across our churches, so we encourage everyone to come together in worship. These services will usually take place on the 5th Sundays of the year:

📅 March 23rd – St David’s, 10 AM
Coming Together in Prayer and Scripture
A time to unite in worship, listen to God’s word, and pray for one another.

📅 June 29th – St George’s, 10 AM
St Peter and Building the Kingdom of God Amongst Us
A reflection on how we, like Peter, are called to help build God’s kingdom here and now. BBQ afterwards!

📅 August 31st – St Sannan’s, 10 AM
Caring for God’s Creation
A service dedicated to stewardship of the earth and our responsibility as Christians to care for creation.

📅 November 30th – St Dingat’s, 10 AM
Awaiting Advent
As we enter the season of Advent, we take time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.

These gatherings are open to everyone – whether you attend church regularly or just want to explore faith in a welcoming environment. We would love to see you there!
