Our invitation was simple: “Come and look up.”
On Wednesday evening, more than 500 people responded by joining us at St Sannan’s Church, Bedwellty, for our eclipse watching party.
It was a fantastic turnout and a wonderful evening. People came together to watch the eclipse safely, enjoy refreshments, meet their neighbours and share in the excitement of seeing something remarkable in the sky.
What began as an opportunity to provide proper eclipse glasses became something much bigger. It became a real community gathering. There was a lovely atmosphere around the church as people chatted, watched and enjoyed being together.
One of the best parts of the evening was seeing volunteers from across Mynydd Bedwellte Ministry Area working alongside one another. They welcomed visitors, handed out glasses, served refreshments, helped people find their way and made sure the event ran safely and smoothly. We are incredibly grateful to every person who gave their time and energy.
Events like this remind us how important it is to create opportunities for people to gather. The eclipse encouraged us to pause, look up and enjoy the wonder of creation, but it also helped us to look around and appreciate the community in which we live.
Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a memorable occasion. It was a fantastic time, and we were delighted to share it with so many of you.
